Welcome/Orientation Ceremony for First year MBBS students on 13-02-2023 at KIMS.

On February 13, 2023, the Orientation Ceremony Day for first-year MBBS students was held in the KIMS Auditorium. Before the formal ceremony the students of second year MBBS introduced their juniors to various college departments and other facilities of the college.The event's chief guest, Prof. Dr. Musraat Jabeen, the KMU-IMS principal, welcomed the newcomers with open arms on behalf of the KIMS faculty, staff, and students with the goal of providing high-quality medical education. She made clear that after moving into a new building, KIMS will soon be accredited for 200 students. She emphasized that a journey that initially appeared to be less promising had evolved into a tale of successes on all fronts. KIMS's mission is to provide top-notch medical education makes it a model institution imparting quality education.

Prof Shujaat Ali Khan, VP  Admin highlighted all  the psychological issues faced by new comers in new environment. He motivated the students that there is a counseling cell in KIMS for students for psychological and moral counseling support in order to help them cope better professionally.Prof Dr Asghar Kamal VP Academics, shed light on all the academic taking place throughout the academic career of the medical student. He further elaborated various aspects of Islamic values and norms guiding medical profession.

Prof Dr. Syed Fahim Shah advised the students to strictly follow conduct and discipline regulations of the college including punctuality, dress code, mobile usage, refrain themselves from repeated absence from classes, displaying of ID cards, wearing of white coat during practicals. He also emphasized that students should not indulge in any indecent activities or to take part in any political activities.

Prof Dr Sohail Aziz Paracha, HOD Anatomy Department and Prof Dr Asmat Shaheen HOD Biochemistry Department also participated in the ceremony.At the end of the ceremony certificates were distributed amongst the organizers by the Principal, Vice Principal, and Vice Principal Academics.

First-year students were scheduled to visit the Basic Sciences Departments on the second day of orientation, where they were briefed and guided by the corresponding HODs. First-year students were taken to the auditorium after the departmental visit so that various aspects of the curriculum and studies could be explained. Numerous terms, including Block, Module, Stage, Assessment, OSPE, and others, were defined in plain language for the benefit of first-year students. The second-year MBBS students also provided an insight and advice on how to balance academic pressure and daily life at the medical school.

In the second half of the program, representatives and members of several student groups and clubs offered information about extra-curricular activities after the second-year students had finished their PowerPoint presentations regarding the curriculum. Prf Dr. Fouzia Gul, HOD DME was kind enough to grace the occasion as chief-guest and distributed the certificates amongst the participants.
